Holiday Closing Update

The Walden University Library will be closed on Thursday, December 24th starting at 12:00 pm EST and all day on December 25th. We will re-open Saturday December 26th at 12:00 pm EST.

The following week, the library will be closed Thursday, December 31st starting at 12:00 pm EST and all day on January 1st, 2010. We will re-open Saturday January 2nd at 12:00 pm EST

During the intervening week (Dec 26 – 30) and also on January 2nd the library will close at 9:00 pm EST.  Regular hours will resume on Sunday, January 3rd.

Forgery/Phishing messages

Students using Firefox, Chrome or Safari Internet browsers may see a message labeling the EBSCOhost databases as a potential Web Forgery site. Users should press the “Ignore this warning” link if you see this message. You will continue to be able to use the EBSCOhost databases to do your library research.

This issue began Sunday 11/8/09. Walden staff are working with Google to address this issue. Once we have confirmation that Google has resolved the issue we will post that information. We apologize for any confusion or concern this may have caused you as a Walden student.

Introducing NetLibrary and IEEE Xplore

The Library has recently added two new databases!

NetLibrary contains many ebooks on a variety of subjects.  It is especially useful for KAM students as it contains works by the most popular theorists.  Some of the theorists included in the collection are:

  • Amitai Etzioni
  • Erich Fromm
  • Jean Piaget
  • Bertrand Russell
  • Carl Jung
  • James Kouzes
  • Carol Tomlinson
  • Zygmunt Bauman

IEEE Xplore contains over 227,000 full text articles and over two million abstracts on engineering and computer science related topics.  It includes peer reviewed and professional magazine articles, as well as the most highly cited journals in the field.
