Looking for education research?
The ERIC database can help!
With over a million citations dating back to 1966, the Education Resource Information Center is the largest education database and is only a few clicks away for you.
To search this rich resource, start at the Walden Library homepage. In the center of the page under Journals, click on ‘Research Databases.’
From the library’s list of databases, scroll down and click on ERIC and you’re there!
For help developing keywords, be sure to use the ERIC Thesaurus. On the top of the search page in the blue bar, click on Thesaurus. From there you can use the ‘browse’ box to learn the language and terms used by the database.
If you have any questions about this or any other library resource, don’t hesitate to contact us!
Happy Searching!

Log In Screens & Bookmarking Databases
As you may know, our library databases are behind security to make sure access is given only to Waldeneers and not the general public.
From time to time you may see this screen:

The library log in screen - use your portal username and password.
If you see this – don’t panic! It simply means that your browser misplaced the cookie that identifies you as a Walden user.
All you need to do is enter the same username and password that you use to log in to your myWalden portal.
Once you enter this, you will continue to whatever database or resource you were trying to access.
More good news: you can now bookmark database search pages and use the direct links to articles.
To bookmark your favorite database, first access it as usual. Go in through your myWalden portal, click through the Library Web Site and the Research Databases page and then click our link to your database. Once you have done that, bookmark the database page.
The next time you use that bookmark, you will see the login screen above. Simply enter your myWalden login info and you will continue to the database search screen.
The process is similar for article direct links. Look for “Permanent URL for this article” information in the databases. When you save these links, you will be asked to log in each time you use them. However, once you enter your myWalden login you will be sent directly to you article.

What permalinks to articles might look like
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Happy linking!

Software and Systems Engineering Resources
Do you know about the computer science resources in the Walden Library databases?
We have hundreds of software and systems engineering journals indexed in our databases and many of these journals are in full text. You can find the journals in these Walden Library databases:
Computers & Applied Sciences Complete
Inspec – Institution of Engineering and Technology bibliographic database
NTIS – National Technical Information Service
and our new ScienceDirect database
To view our sizable full text Computer Science journal holdings, use our A-to-Z E-Journal List tool, found on the Research Databases page of the library website. On the A-to-Z page, scroll down to the Browse e-journals by subject section. Select “Engineering and Applied Sciences” from the subject list to see a subject heading for journals in this degree program. Click on the “Computer Science” link to view the journals in this subject area.
And if you find that perfect article without a full text link in our databases, don’t forget about our Document Delivery Service. Our lending partners at the University of Michigan and Indiana University-Bloomington have extensive full text holdings, including many IEEE journals. You can request up to 25 articles from DDS every month, at no charge to you. You can find information about DDS on the Library Services page of the library website.
